What was nbn® 250?

The nbn® 250 plan, sometimes called nbn® Home Superfast or 250 Mbps nbn, offered speeds of 250 Mbps download and 25 Mbps upload. Many customers knew it as nbn® 250/25, while some providers offered a nbn® 250/100 option.

It was popular with households wanting faster streaming, gaming and work-from-home performance than the standard nbn® 100 plans.

What changed to nbn® 750?

In September 2025, NBN Co introduced a nationwide speed uplift. As part of this upgrade:

  • nbn® 250 (250/25) was uplifted to nbn® 750/50
  • Eligible customers on FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) or HFC (Hybrid Fibre Coaxial) connections were upgraded automatically
  • The change came with no increase in price

So if you were on nbn® 250, your plan is now nbn® 750. You’ll see triple the download speed and double the upload speed.

  • Stronger streaming – multiple people can stream in 4K or even 8K with no buffering
  • Better uploads – with 50 Mbps upload speeds, cloud backups and video calls are smoother
  • Future-ready internet – supports growing demand from gaming, smart homes, and remote work
